The best way to do that is to get started with NBA betting. For those of you just getting started with wagering please see the NBA odds explained to get an idea of the basics. In this article we will look more in-depth to the nuances of betting pro basketball.
Shop for lines
The best way to do this is to hold accounts at multiple online sportsbooks. You don’t want to get caught taking a bad line just because you don’t have any other options. Many times just about every book will have the same line, but there are enough times where you can shop for a better line (or reduced juice) that it is well worth opening up more than one account. With NBA odds, many times a point or even a half-point will be the difference between a win, loss, or a push. Get live NBA Lines: Click here
Ignore the Last Game
So the Timberwolves beat the Suns by 20 points three nights ago. You can look at certain aspects of that game as part of the whole season between the two teams, but there are so many variables that go into winning a game (and covering the spread). For example, lets say we use game above. The next game for the Timberwolves is against the Detroit Pistons, a team the Suns beat by 10 points the last time those two met. Does this mean the Timberwolves are going to win their game against the Pistons by 30 points? After all, they are 20 points better than the Suns, who are 10 points better than the Pistons! Of course not! You wouldn’t use that kind of logic to place your bets, so don’t pay too much attention to recent games. They do have some significance, but not nearly as much as most amateur bettors think!
Injuries
This is especially important in the NBA since there are so few players on each team’s roster. Think that mid-level small forward being out doesn’t matter? It does! You’ll need to know not only who is out, but who their backup is and whether or not he has any experience or if he will end up being a complete liability on defense. It’s pretty obvious how a star player sitting out can affect the outcome of a game, but the injuries you can use to your advantage are those that don’t necessarily make headlines.
