Bodemeister 8-5

The second place finisher in the Kentucky Derby was Bodemeister and he came out of the race very well. Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert said that his horse looks fantastic. Baffert has had a lot of success in the Preakness, winning the race five times. Baffert should have a Triple Crown contender but jockey Mike Smith decided to play stupid in the Kentucky Derby and let his horse run as fast as he could all he could. The insane pace eventually hurt Bodemesiter who was caught in the stretch by I’ll Have Another.

I’ll Have Another 5-2

The Kentucky Derby winner came out of the race in excellent shape and trainer Doug O’Neill has had his horse resting in preparation for Saturday’s race. O’Neill is concerned about Bodemeister but at the same time he is confident in his horse.

“I respect Bodemeister and his connections big time,” said O’Neill, “What he did in Arkansas was just wowing, and then to come back and do what he did in the Kentucky Derby was incredible. But my colt is three for three this year and he’s done nothing but win, so as long as he keeps doing that, I’m O.K.”

The Rest

It really does look like a two-horse race but we at least have to give a glance to Went the Day Well. He had a rotten trip in the Derby and still rallied to finish fourth. He has the same connections as last year’s Derby winner Animal Kingdom. The only other horse that might get into the picture is Pretension who has already won at Pimlico this year. The rest of the field just doesn’t look very good.

Sprint Showdown

The Sprint Showdown will take place on Saturday afternoon with the top two drivers and the most popular driver in a fan’s vote advancing into the All-Star race in the evening.  Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the co-favorite along with Martin Truex Jr. to win the Showdown. Jr. does not have to worry about winning the race though as he is a lock to win the fan vote and make it into the All-Star race even if he does not finish in the top two. The other two drivers with single digit odds to win the Showdown are AJ Allmendinger at 4-1 and Joey Logano at 7-1.

Sprint All-Star Race

The feature event on Saturday night is the All-Star race which will be televised on Speed TV. Jimmie Johnson is the 5-1 favorite but in this race any of the drivers in the field could win. In fact, in the last eight years there have been eight different winners. Carl Edwards won last year while other previous winners are Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth and Ryan Newman.

New Format

This race will have a new format as it will be split into five segments. The first four are 20 laps each and the final one is 10 laps. In addition, the winner of each of the first four segments will move up and start 1-4 for the final segment. “That’s a really good format change,” said Carl Edwards who won last year’s race, “That’s gonna make those first races really important, because if you look at the way the racing is right now, if you start up front, you’ve got a huge advantage, so that’s a great way to address that issue.” Winners from the last two seasons automatically qualify along with past winners of the race and Sprint Cup champs from the last ten years. A lot of people are talking about a strong Pacquaio-Mayweather fight which is too bad because Timothy Bradley is pretty good. He is 28-0 inhis career with one no contest and is a real threat to beat Pacquaio. Bradley said recently that everyone is overlooking him and that he is out to prove a point. Pacquaio had all kinds of trouble in his last fight with Juan Manuel Marquez and there is no question that Bradley is superior to Marquez. Manny Pacquaio 54-3-2

The most popular boxer currently is Pacquaio and he comes into this fight with a record of 54-3-2. Many of Pacquaio’s recent fights have gone the distance but trainer Freddie Roach doesn’t think that will be the case this time. “It should be action packed. I don’t see this going the distance,” said Roach. Pacquaio will have to prove that his last fight against Marquez was an aberration so he may be looking for the knockout against Bradley. Roach has even told Pacquaio that he needs to get the knockout in this fight. “We’ll see, I’ll do my best,” Pacquiao said. “It’s an important fight. I want to … prove I can still fight.”

The price on Pacquaio to win the fight is really high at 4-1 but we do like the rounds price. We get big plus money on it going under 9.5 rounds. Based on what Bradley, Pacquaio and Roach have said this fight could be ended early due to this we will take the rounds under.  As soon as the props on this fight are released we will also look for the knockout options.

Indiana is confident they can beat Miami. Based on Game 1 they might even be more confident than when the series started. St. Louis has actually been better on the road this season than at home. The Cardinals are in the top10 inboth runs scored and in team ERA. The Cardinals haven’t missed Albert Pujols at all as Carlos Beltran is leading the National League in home runs. St. Louis has been scoring a lot of runs even though Lance Berkman has missed time due to injury. He is now back so St. Louis could be even better on offense.

The Giants have taken six of the last ten in this series against the Cardinals. They have won 7 of the last 10 at home against St. Louis. Five of the last six have gone under the online baseball betting total.
